The Court declared much of the National Industrial Recovery Act unconstitutional in May 1935, a month before the program was set to expire. Seven months later, it declared the Agricultural Adjustment Act unconstitutional through a narrow interpretation of the constitutional clause empowering Congress to regulate commerce.
