He spoke of himself as a disciple and warm admirer of Ficino, and his edition of Ficino's Pimander was published in France, by the University of Paris, in 1494. A few years later, in 1505, Lefevre brought together for the first time in one volume Ficino's Pimander and the Asclepius; he added a commentary by himself to the latter in which he condemned, as bad magic, the idol-making passage of the Asclepius.4 The volume was dedicated 1 See below, p.
