He never "lost traces of this volcanic and Neapolitan origin, and was proud to call himself "the Nolan", born under a kindly sky. He entered the Dominican Order in 1563, and became an inmate of the great Dominican convent in Naples, where Thomas Aquinas is buried. In 1576, he got into trouble for heresy, and fled, abandoning his Dominican habit.
