Perelman, who acquired Revlon Incorporated in a bitter 1985 fight. In his merger factory, Gleacher had a team of ten bright young people who did nothing but cook up deals for the firm to sell to clients. In 1978, Bob Greenhill had said that Morgan Stanley was simply executing clients’ deals, not iniating them.2 Now passivity was scrapped: every deal announced in the morning newspaper was studied for a profit angle.
