To boost faith in the foundation’s autonomy, in July 1917 Rockefeller waived his future right to make founder’s designations. If the Ludlow Massacre was a turning point in Rockefeller family history, much of the credit must go to Mackenzie King, who emancipated Junior from strict obedience to his father.
