Paul was eager to launch a national education campaign and Aldrich had to damp his excessive ardor. Frank Vanderlip of National City Bank described these strenuous days as the most stimulating intellectual experience of his life.15 As a result of these talks, Aldrich announced the so-called Aldrich Plan in January 1911.
