  The historic deal was signed on July 1, 1963. (The real recipient of the money was the steel-making company Finsider, a sister subsidiary of the Autostrade in the state-owned IRI conglomerate.) It was the first foreign industrial loan issued in London in a generation and in several ways was a landmark.
