Felix died at a moment when Eddie had grown disillusioned with his fast, forbidden, Bohemian world of art and ballet and wanted to return to his roots. Having already visited Palestine several times, he picked the Joint as his chief project and headed its 1938 fund-raising drive in New York and became its vice-chairman.
