After the Brandeis, Goldschmidt sale, he became a deeply depressed person, something of a misfit. In the drab atmosphere of 1946 Britain, he couldn’t find work and had to become a gentleman farmer. Several times in the 1950s, the Warburgs tried to make peace between Siegmund and Eddy, but both men were hardened in their self-righteous indignation.
