  1. 16 February 1955 Britain asks for African goodwill while camps hold tens of thousands 3 cit. In February 1955 a Commons debate framed Kenya policy around the need to win African loyalty and goodwill. The same exchange discussed indiscriminate sweeps that had drawn in loyal Kikuyu, Home Guard abuses and about 50,000 people held in camps.
