Samuel Muindi Mbingu, often remembered as Muindi Mbingu, became the central figure of the 1938 Akamba anti-destocking campaign. Through the Ukamba Members Association, he helped turn cattle seizure and land pressure into organized petitioning, boycott, and a march to Nairobi. The colonial government deported him to Lamu, but the campaign forced compulsory destocking back and made him a lasting symbol of Akamba resistance.
