Margaret Gakuo Kenyatta was born on 8 April 1964 to Ephantus Njuguna Gakuo and Magdallena Gakuo. She attended Kianda School and Kenyatta University, trained as a teacher, married Uhuru Kenyatta and became mother of three. During Uhuru presidency she served as First Lady, patroned Beyond Zero, supported mobile clinics, maternal and child health, mentorship and social-environmental causes, and used the First Lady office as the household-facing side of the Kenyatta presidency.
