Mary I, daughter of Henry VIII and Catherine of Aragon, sought to reverse the Reformation and restore Catholicism. She had nearly 300 Protestants burned as heretics, earning the name Bloody Mary. Her marriage to Philip II of Spain was unpopular, and she died childless.
