Florence Farr was an actress and writer, a friend of George Bernard Shaw and W. B. Yeats, who rose to a leading role in the Golden Dawn. Mathers put her in charge of the order in England, and she led a study group focused on Egyptian magic. She was a central figure in the disputes that split the order around 1900.
