Carl Kellner was a wealthy Austrian industrialist and chemist who conceived an academy of higher Masonry that became the Ordo Templi Orientis. He claimed to have learned a mystical secret from Eastern teachers of yoga and tantra. He discussed the plan with Theodor Reuss, who organized the order after Kellner's death in 1905.
