The founder of modern anatomy, who corrected Galen from the dissection table.

Physician to the Holy Roman Emperor. No secret society.

Vesalius performed his own dissections and published On the Fabric of the Human Body, richly illustrated and based on direct observation. He corrected many errors that had stood since Galen. His insistence on seeing for oneself helped launch modern medical science.
