Anglican. Later legend linked him to the Rosicrucians and even Shakespeare's authorship, but there is no evidence he belonged to any secret society.

Bacon argued that knowledge must be built from careful observation and experiment, not inherited authority. His inductive method laid the philosophical foundation of modern science and inspired the Royal Society. His vision of science serving human progress shaped the age that followed.
