Ribbentrop shaped Nazi foreign policy, most notably the 1939 Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact that cleared the way for the invasion of Poland. Widely disliked even within the regime, he pressed satellite states to deport their Jews. He was the first of those convicted at Nuremberg to be hanged in 1946.
