Ran schools at Stans, Burgdorf, and Yverdon.

Pestalozzi put Rousseau's ideas into practice in schools for poor children, developing a method built on sense perception and hands on activity rather than rote learning. He taught that education should develop the head, the heart, and the hands together. His institute at Yverdon drew visitors from across Europe, including Froebel and Herbart, and spread his methods internationally.
