Allen Dulles was Director of Central Intelligence from 1953 to 1961 and, with his brother John Foster Dulles at State, drove US covert action in the early Cold War. On his watch the CIA organized the 1953 overthrow of Iran's Mossadegh and the 1954 removal of Guatemala's Arbenz. He was dismissed after the Bay of Pigs failure and later served on the Warren Commission.
