Adolfo Calero was a Nicaraguan businessman who led the Nicaraguan Democratic Force, the largest of the Contra rebel groups fighting the Sandinista government. He was a key recipient of the covert U.S. support at the heart of the Iran-Contra affair. He remained active in Nicaraguan opposition politics for years afterward.
