Jack Ruby ran nightclubs in Dallas and shot Lee Harvey Oswald in the basement of police headquarters two days after Kennedy's assassination, as Oswald was being transferred. The killing silenced the only suspect before trial. Ruby said he acted from grief; the Warren Commission found he too acted alone, a conclusion many have questioned.
