Alfred Milner

1854 – 1925 British colonial administrator, statesman

British colonial administrator who ran southern Africa, gathered the 'Kindergarten' of young officials, and built the Round Table network at the heart of Quigley's Anglo-American Establishment thesis.

Alfred Milner was High Commissioner for Southern Africa in the run-up to the Second Boer War, and gathered a group of talented young administrators, the Milner Kindergarten, who spread through British public life. As a trustee of Rhodes's estate he turned the secret-society idea into the Round Table movement and its journal. He is the central organizing figure of Carroll Quigley's contested account of a coordinated Anglo-American elite.
