Ibn Ezra left Spain around 1140 and spent his later years wandering through Italy, France and England. He wrote influential commentaries on the Hebrew Bible that stressed grammar and plain meaning, along with works on mathematics and astrology. His commentaries hinted at questions about the authorship of the Torah that later thinkers picked up.
