Dov Ber, called the Maggid of Mezeritch, became the leading figure of Hasidism after the Baal Shem Tov's death. He trained a circle of disciples and sent them out to found Hasidic courts across Eastern Europe, spreading the movement widely. His birth year is not firmly recorded.
