Fred Kubai

1915 – 1996 Kenyan trade unionist, nationalist politician

Militant Kenyan trade union leader and one of the Kapenguria Six jailed with Kenyatta.

Fred Kubai was a leading figure in Nairobi's militant trade unionism and the radical wing of the Kenya African Union. He helped organise the 1950 Nairobi general strike and was central to the underground oathing and arms networks in the city. He was arrested and tried at Kapenguria in 1953 as one of the six convicted with Kenyatta. After independence he served as a member of parliament and held office in KANU.
