Jiddu Krishnamurti

1895 – 1986 Indian speaker, writer, spiritual teacher

Groomed by Theosophists as World Teacher, he rejected the role and taught independence from all authority.

Religion
After leaving Theosophy he taught a non-doctrinal philosophy of self-inquiry and freedom from all authority, belonging to no organized religion.
Affiliations
Raised within the Theosophical Society as the intended World Teacher, then dissolved the Order of the Star in 1929 and renounced the role.

Jiddu Krishnamurti was chosen as a boy by Leadbeater and Besant to be the vehicle for a coming World Teacher and was raised at the center of the Theosophical movement. In 1929 he dissolved the Order of the Star, declaring that truth is a pathless land and rejecting all spiritual organizations and gurus. He spent the rest of his life as an independent teacher urging listeners to seek understanding without any authority.
