1865 – 1919 Danish-American occultist, founder of the Rosicrucian Fellowship

Max Heindel, born Carl Louis von Grasshoff in Denmark, moved to the United States and became active in Theosophy before founding the Rosicrucian Fellowship in 1909. He wrote The Rosicrucian Cosmo-Conception, presenting a Christian esoteric system of reincarnation and cosmic evolution he attributed to Rosicrucian Elder Brothers. He had briefly attended lectures by Rudolf Steiner, whose influence he acknowledged in part.
