Freud argued that unconscious drives, especially sexual ones, shape our thoughts and behavior, and developed psychoanalysis to explore them. His ideas on dreams, repression, and the mind's structure transformed psychology, medicine, and culture. Much of his theory is now disputed, but his influence is vast.
