Kamenev was an old Bolshevik who, with Zinoviev, had opposed the timing of the October seizure of power. He joined Stalin and Zinoviev to block Trotsky, then swung into opposition against Stalin. He was tried and shot with Zinoviev in the first Moscow show trial of 1936.
